What type of toothbrush should I use:

There are different types of tooth-brushes and there is no right or wrong as long as you find what works for you and your 4 legged friend:

1. Cat and dog toothbrush

2. Human toothbrush (soft)

3. Toddler toothbrush

4. Gauze or cloth

Toothpastes:

Formulated specially for dogs and cats to inhibit the formation of plaque. They contain no foaming agents and are safe to be swallowed.

Works two ways:

1. kills bacteria

2. reduces the amount of microorganisms in the mouth hence cutting down the build up of tartar.

Always introduce the toothbrush slowly to your pet; short and well rewarded sessions work best.

Brush the teeth back and forth at a 45 degree angle towards the gums.

These are all great options to maintain good dental health, but, it is still most important to schedule a yearly visit with your veterinarian where they can evaluate your pet’s health, then make appropriate recommendations.
